A well-established luxury hospitality group in Franschhoek is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to manage and coordinate the full payroll function. This role is suited to a highly detail-oriented professional who can work independently, maintain strict compliance, and collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and operational teams.
What You’ll Do

Manage all payroll administration including loading, terminating, and transferring employees on payroll and timekeeping systems

Maintain accurate time and attendance records, resolving clocking discrepancies

Explain payroll-related matters to new employees including first-month pay, payslips, overtime, and termination pay

Administer employee benefits, beneficiary documentation, and third-party portal updates

Ensure all managers authorise hours worked and leave transactions within required deadlines

Prepare and distribute payroll registers for approval

Submit bank files for salary payments and support finance with salary review reporting

Manage ESS access, payslip uploads, and payroll scheduling

Process month-end payments for terminated employees and complete UIF documentation

Reconcile EMP201 submissions and prepare files for monthly upload

Reconcile third-party payroll transactions

Submit UIF files within monthly deadlines

Prepare medical aid reconciliations, month-end payroll reports, and general ledger files

Ensure compliance with mid-year and year-end tax requirements including EMP501 and IRP5 submissions

Perform ongoing annual leave reconciliations

Monitor absenteeism trends and flag concerns with management

Process IOD claims on the relevant compensation system

Respond to payroll and leave-related queries from employees and management

Maintain professional working relationships across departments

Support senior management with payroll-related queries

Assist with HR duties as required
What You’ll Need

3–5 years’ payroll experience

Strong payroll system knowledge, including Sage 300

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to manage the payroll function independently

Solid communication and interpersonal skills

Matric certificate required

Relevant payroll or human resources qualification

Financial qualification advantageous

Preference for candidates based in Franschhoek or surrounding areas
