A prestigious five star wine estate in Stellenbosch is seeking a dedicated and passionate Pastry Commis Chef to join its award winning culinary team. This role is ideal for an energetic junior chef who is eager to learn, grow and contribute to the creation of exceptional pastries and desserts in a world class kitchen.
As a Pastry Commis Chef you will support the senior pastry team with preparation, mise en place, plating and maintaining the highest standards of quality, hygiene and precision.
What You Will Do

Assist the pastry chefs with daily preparation for à la carte and buffet menus

Maintain consistency in all recipe execution and food presentation

Handle daily mise en place checks to ensure freshness and quality

Assist with receiving and organising deliveries

Maintain excellent cleanliness and organisation of all pastry workstations and equipment

Follow strict food safety, hygiene and sanitation procedures

Rotate stock correctly to minimise waste

Support the team by sharing ideas and participating in shift briefings

Learn menu items, features and seasonal offerings
What You Need

Grade 12 with a Culinary Certificate or Diploma

Ideally 1 to 2 years’ experience as a Commis Chef in a five star restaurant

Passion for pastry, precision and presentation

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure

Strong attention to detail with consistent productivity

Self disciplined with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
