An exciting opportunity is available for a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join a prestigious luxury hospitality environment in the Cape Winelands. We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for authentic Japanese cuisine, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to deliver a world-class dining experience.
Key responsibilities include:
• Preparing and creating high-quality sushi and authentic Japanese dishes
• Working with fresh ingredients and maintaining exceptional presentation standards
• Managing stock control, rotation, and ingredient quality
• Assisting with food cost control and reducing waste
• Ensuring hygiene, food safety, and kitchen standards are maintained
• Supporting a positive team culture and assisting with junior staff development
• Working closely with front-of-house teams to ensure exceptional guest experiences
Requirements:
• Minimum 2–3 years’ Sushi Chef or Japanese/Asian cuisine experience
• Strong sushi preparation, knife skills, and knowledge of traditional techniques
• Passion for authentic Japanese cuisine and fine attention to detail
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work hospitality hours, weekends, and public holidays
