A prestigious luxury wine estate in Stellenbosch is looking for a positive and approachable HR & Payroll Generalist to join its team. This is a varied, mid-level position combining day-to-day human resources administration with payroll responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be a confident people person who enjoys supporting employees, maintaining accurate records and ensuring that HR and payroll processes run smoothly. This is a fully onsite position and requires someone who is positive about working at the property every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general HR administration across the employee lifecycle
- Prepare and process payroll accurately and within the required deadlines
- Maintain employee information and payroll records on SAGE 300
- Process new appointments, employee changes and terminations
- Prepare employment contracts, letters and other HR documentation
- Maintain personnel files and ensure employee records are accurate and up to date
- Manage leave records, attendance information and payroll-related queries
- Assist employees and managers with general HR and payroll enquiries
- Support recruitment, onboarding and induction processes
- Assist with employee relations matters and the consistent application of company policies
- Support performance management and disciplinary administration
- Coordinate training and skills-development administration
- Assist with statutory reporting, payroll reconciliations and compliance requirements
- Prepare regular HR and payroll reports for management
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and company information
Requirements
- Approximately 2–5 years’ relevant experience in an HR, payroll or combined HR and payroll position
- Solid HR administration experience together with practical payroll exposure
- Proven working experience with SAGE 300
- Good understanding of payroll processes and South African employment legislation
- Able to communicate effectively in both English and Afrikaans
- Own reliable transport and a valid driver’s licence
- Willing and positive about working onsite every day
- Strong administration, organisation and attention to detail
- Confident computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Able to manage deadlines and work accurately with confidential information
Advantageous
- A completed or in-progress HR qualification
- Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) qualification
- Previous experience within the hospitality industry or a luxury environment
