Reporting to the Global Sales and Marketing Manager, the Hospitality Excellence Manager will oversee the estate’s restaurant, tasting centre and kitchen, ensuring a seamless and consistently exceptional experience across all hospitality operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, tasting centre and kitchen.
- Lead, schedule, support and evaluate the front-of-house, tasting room and kitchen teams.
- Recruit, train, coach and develop employees in line with company standards.
- Maintain exceptional standards of service, food quality, wine presentation, cleanliness and facility appearance.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination across all hospitality areas and relevant internal departments.
- Manage reservations, guest flow and daily operational requirements.
- Build strong guest relationships and handle queries, feedback and complaints professionally.
- Manage stock levels, purchasing and supplier relationships for food, beverages, operating supplies and equipment.
- Monitor stock controls, wastage, breakages and cost of sales, implementing corrective measures where required.
- Assist with the development and pricing of menus, tastings, seasonal offerings and guest experiences.
- Prepare and manage the hospitality budget, monitor expenditure and support revenue and profitability targets.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, occupational health and safety, liquor licensing and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate operational, financial, staffing and compliance records.
- Support special events, private functions, trade visits and VIP experiences.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to promote the estate’s hospitality offering and ensure alignment with its premium brand positioning.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of restaurant, tasting room and kitchen operations.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and people-management skills.
- A hands-on management style and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team.
- Exceptional guest relations, communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Sound commercial awareness, including budgeting, stock control and cost management.
- High attention to detail and a passion for consistently excellent service.
- The ability to prioritise, solve problems and remain calm in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale and reservation systems; experience with Pilot would be advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
Experience and Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management or a related field.
- At least five years’ hospitality experience, including experience in a supervisory or management position.
- Practical experience overseeing restaurant or food-and-beverage operations, including kitchen coordination.
- Experience within a wine estate, tasting room or premium hospitality environment would be advantageous.
- Good local and international wine knowledge would be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of food safety, health and safety, and liquor legislation.
- A valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
