An established wine estate restaurant in the Franschhoek Valley is seeking a Head Chef to lead its kitchen operations and shape a refined, seasonal dining experience.
This is a senior leadership role for a commercially minded chef who combines creativity with strong financial and operational control.
What You’ll Do
• Oversee full kitchen operations including planning, staffing and service execution
• Develop and execute seasonal menus with multiple changes throughout the year
• Drive food quality, presentation and consistency at the highest level
• Manage food costings, budgeting and waste control to achieve profitability targets
• Lead, mentor and develop the kitchen team
• Ensure full compliance with food safety and HACCP standards
• Collaborate closely with front of house to deliver seamless guest experiences
• Manage supplier relationships and procurement processes
• Engage professionally with guests when required
What You’ll Need
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Head Chef or a strong Senior Sous Chef ready to step up
• Proven experience in seasonal menu development
• Strong knowledge of food and wine pairings within a wine estate environment
• Advanced culinary skills and understanding of modern techniques
• Solid financial acumen and cost control experience
• Strong leadership and team development ability
• Ability to perform under pressure in a high standard hospitality setting
