An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Front Office Manager to join a prestigious luxury hotel in Hermanus. This role is ideal for a polished and guest-focused hospitality professional who enjoys leading a team and creating memorable guest experiences.
The Front Office Manager will oversee the daily operation of the Front Office department, ensuring that every guest receives warm, professional and personalised service from arrival through to departure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Reception, Guest Relations, Porters and Night Audit.
- Lead, motivate and develop the Front Office team.
- Ensure consistently high standards of guest service in keeping with a luxury hotel environment.
- Oversee guest arrivals, departures, room allocations and special requests.
- Welcome VIP guests and ensure all arrangements and preferences are communicated to the relevant departments.
- Respond professionally to guest feedback, concerns and complaints.
- Work closely with Housekeeping, Reservations, Food and Beverage and other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Monitor room availability, occupancy and daily operational requirements.
- Ensure guest accounts, billing and payment procedures are completed accurately.
- Prepare staff rosters and manage departmental scheduling.
- Conduct team briefings, training and performance discussions.
- Maintain Front Office procedures, service standards and accurate records.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of team members.
- Support hotel management with reports, operational planning and special projects.
- Act as the Manager on Duty when required.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Front Office Manager or Assistant Front Office Manager within a luxury hotel.
- Strong knowledge of Front Office operations and guest service standards.
- Experience leading and developing a Front Office team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Confident in handling guest complaints and sensitive situations professionally.
- Strong administrative, organisational and computer skills.
- Experience working with a recognised hotel property management system.
- Good understanding of reservations, room allocations, guest accounts and Night Audit procedures.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- A relevant-less-than-normal schedule, occasional overnight supervisory duties, and flexibility during peak periods.
- A relevant hospitality qualification would be advantageous.
- A valid driver of-late and own.
- South African citizenship or a valid permit to work in South Africa.
