Career Growth Hospitality Recruitment is looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager to join a prestigious five-star hotel.
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and hands-on hospitality professional who is ready to support the General Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the property. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring operational excellence, strong team performance, guest satisfaction and hotel profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the General Manager with the daily management of the hotel
- Ensure the smooth running of the property in the General Manager’s absence
- Oversee hotel departments and maintain consistently high operational standards
- Anticipate guest needs and proactively address any concerns
- Manage guest complaints and oversee effective service recovery
- Monitor departmental performance and recommend operational improvements
- Assist in improving efficiency, profitability and overall hotel performance
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports
- Provide leadership, training, coaching and mentoring to staff and Heads of Department
- Assist with the recruitment and selection of hotel employees
- Support performance management and employee relations processes
- Ensure effective communication of hotel policies and procedures
- Maintain full compliance with operating controls, standard operating procedures and service standards
- Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the General Manager or senior management
Requirements:
- A post-matric hotel school qualification would be advantageous
- A minimum of five years’ experience within a five-star property
- Proven hotel operations and leadership experience
- Strong guest relations and service recovery skills
- Experience managing and developing employees and Heads of Department
- Computer literacy, including MICROS and Opera Cloud
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good numeracy and reporting abilities
- A high level of English proficiency
- A motivated, enthusiastic and energetic approach
- A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team
- Willingness to work shifts
- Own transport would be preferable
